Surface Finishes

  • Polished

Polish is a standard finish for flooring and countertops purpose for most granites. A Polished surface is glossy and highly eflective. It is created when a stone surface reaches its most refined stage. This finish gives the stone a very elegant and rich look, providing it with a pinnacle depth of colour. A polished finish is most often used for countertops, wall-cladding, fireplaces, table tops, reception areas and vanities.

  • Honed

Honed finish is a non-reflective satiny finish. This finish is created by buffing the stone to slightly less than the highest level of polish. It feels smooth but with dull appearance. It encompasses many level of dullness. A honed finish is best for low maintenance, high traffic applications. Often used for flooring, stairs or other areas where water might make a surface too slippery for a polished finish to be safe. Also used for interior wall covering, table tops, vanities and countertops.

  • Flamed

A Flammed finish is produced when an intense flame is fired at the stone, causing the surface to burst and become rough. It is used primarily for exteriors applications where slip-resistance is extremely important like bath areas, steps and Varandah. Almost all Indian granites can withstand Flammed finish due to high density.

  • Brushed (or) Antique

This Antique finish can be first produced by the flaming process and then brushed finish to smooth out the characteristics of the stone structure. The resulting surface is rough, non-slip and generally faded in colour.

  • Leather (or) Lepathura

Leather (or) lepathura finish is the process of texturing granite to appear less glossy. This process amplifies the natural characteristics of the granite, resulting in an exquisite surface. It is easy to clean and maintain. This finish makes the stone very pleasant to touch. The leather finish process closes the stone pores which helps it to become more stain resistant. Leather finish also hides fingerprints and water spots better than the polished surface. Leather finish granites are ideal for Steps, counter tops, Vanities and outdoor applications.

  • Silky (or) lappato

Silky (or) lappato finish is the next stage of the leather finish. This finish looks fine for a certain granite colours depending on their texture and the minerals in the granite. In this finish, the granite surface looks like semi polished and semi leather finish. It is ideal for Counter Tops, vanities and Indoor Usages.
